The operating engineers are responsible for manning the shop floor in all the new plants of the Group. They are recruited directly from engineering and polytechnic colleges.They are then given an intensive,1 to 2 months training at Anand U (Parwanoo or Hosur).
There are two induction schemes for OEs .If they come fresh from the colleges they undergo a training of two months before joining their respective plants.In the case of recruitment under the apprenticeship scheme, they are sent to Anand U before the completion of the first year of their service.The period of training for these operators is 1 month.
While the course content itself changes marginally, the focus shifts, as practical on - the - job training is minimized for apprentice engineers.

The Operatingr Engineers training covers Technical, Behavioural as well as some Managerial aspects.Physical Training and the Anand Group's visions and values also form an important part of their curriculum. All this results in a homogenous, motivated and technically sound work force on the shop floor.
