The Six Sigma projects should emerge from the actual and desired position in three major areas 1) Customer requirements/ market requirements or competitor comparison 2) Strategic requirements in the near future 3) Process improvement requirements   These gaps emerge from stand-alone analysis of each area or a comprehensive analysis as done through the Anand Business Leadership Program.   The decision tree given below will help to distinguish between White Belt , Green Belt and Black Belt projects on the basis of whether the root cause is known or unknown.
